Application

The General Education Committee reviews all applications for General Education and Writing/Math Requirement courses. Please review the criteria as provided on the General Education Requirements page.

Approval of General Education and Writing/Math Requirements are valid for all future semesters up to the semester when the course is up for review, unless the course is a rotating topics course. Rotating topics courses can only be considered for a one-time approval for a specific semester in the future.

Approval for Writing Requirement (E2, E4, E6) is awarded to the course. However, departments may code sections with the approved level (i.e. E6) or any lesser level, or with no Writing Requirement, on a section-by-section basis.

Approval for Math Requirement (M) is for all future terms unless the course is a rotating topic course and 1 time approval is requested.

New courses may be reviewed by the Committee prior to receiving a permanent course number when documentation of College Curriculum Committee approval is submitted with the application. Please review the Syllabus requirements for additional information.

For foreign language classes, the syllabus submitted must be in English.

Please complete the application on UF Approval site and follow the instructions for submission on the site.  Applications must be submitted two weeks before a scheduled upcoming meeting.

Please contact Ann Greene at agreene@aa.ufl.edu or (352) 392-1303 if you have any questions about the process.
